
On November 28, 2008, the Philippine military gathered its men and materiel in Camp Aguinaldo and in Fort Bonifacio. I heard there was a similar check at the Air Force.
A military officer we talked to said it was in preparation for “contingencies” such as “Thailand, and India.” When the tape recorders were on, however, he mentioned only India.
November 28 was a day short of the Manila Peninsula incident, during which rebel officers on trial walked several kilometers from the civilian court in which the trial was held, to a hotel in Makati, and called for a change in government.
