The Philippine Senate has ratified the JPEPA, with 16 senators voting for it, 4 against.

Roxas: impt we maintain our access to market and competitiveness relative to our asean neighbors…who have all entered into their own versions of jpepa with japan which continues to be second largest econ in world…if we go through each and every item…jpepa clearly provides us with predictable and stable environment…as regards to threats to econ, these are present with or without jpepa because most of these arise from weak enforcement and wrong prioritization by our own government…having said all these, it is timely before we go on 30 day break that we acted on jpepa…

Jamby on no vote: listened to very beautiful vote explanations of aquino and escudero…both touched on same points…very unequal treaty, not well negotiated, terribly negotiated by dti to the detriment of filipino people. what is painful is that precisely long held econ doctrine is now breaking…
