The Eco-products International Fair 2009 is now being held at the SMX Convention Center at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The environmentally-friendly products on display vary from vehicles that run on alternative fuel to bangles made of dried leaves that have fallen on the forest floor.

While it is natural for people to focus on short-term goals during a financial crisis, we should not forget “long-term issues” such as the environment, said Shigeo Takenaka, current secretary general of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO).
“The situation is not an excuse not to give importance and value to the environment,” said Dr. Tamotsu Nomakuchi, chair of Mitsubishi Electric Corp. “It should be important to us despite the economic situation.”

Bangles from Naturescast use fallen twigs, dry barks and dead shrubs, bound together by a water-based binder.
